Our take on the Tiger 900

Its 888cc T-plane triple makes 106.5 hp and 66.4 lb-ft of strong, responsive power, and the Akrapovič silencer gives it a voice to match. It is the Tiger 900 at its most rugged and capable.

Finished in Urban Grey, the Desert Edition comes with engine protection bars and a sump guard for durability, plus handguards and an adjustable screen. Showa 45mm upside-down forks and a manually adjustable Showa rear unit handle rough ground, Brembo Stylema Monobloc calipers grip twin 320mm floating discs, and six riding modes include Off-Road Pro.

With a 33.5-inch seat and a dry weight of 509 lb, it feels balanced standing on the pegs and composed at a steady highway cruise, which is exactly what a long desert loop asks of it.

What the reviewers say

  • “Even if road riding were my focus, I would buy the Rally Pro just for the suspension.”

Cycle NewsKeith Dowdle, January 2024Read the review on Cycle News (opens in a new tab)
  • “Despite what reservations a long-legged, 21-inch wheel-wielding beastie might have regarding its handling abilities, the Rally Pro is adept at slicing through sweepers, displaying poise that its more off-road-focused competitors lack.”

Ultimate MotorcyclingNic de Sena, January 2024Read the review on Ultimate Motorcycling (opens in a new tab)
  • “It was a fairly unanimous verdict from all of the British journalists on the launch that this latest-generation T-plane engine seems to have much more grunt, both in the low- and medium-RPM ranges.”

Choose the Rally Pro Desert Edition if your trips include dirt. It's the 2026 version of the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, with long-travel Showa suspension, a 21-inch spoked front wheel, an Off-Road Pro riding mode and fuel tank protection bars.

Choose the GT Pro Alpine Edition if most of your miles are on pavement. It's the 2026 version of the Tiger 900 GT Pro, with 19-inch cast wheels, electronically adjustable rear suspension and a seat 1.6 in lower, for $500 less.

More on these two

Which one fits your riding

The GT Pro Alpine Edition: Looking for a Tiger 900 GT? For 2026 it's the GT Pro Alpine Edition, which Triumph built on the road-focused GT Pro. It's the one for long highway days, two-up weekends and the gravel road to the campsite. The T-plane triple has real grunt low down, which keeps it relaxed when the bike is loaded.

The Rally Pro Desert Edition: Looking for a Tiger 900 Rally? For 2026 it's the Rally Pro Desert Edition, built on the Rally Pro. One reviewer said they'd buy the Rally Pro for its suspension even if road riding were the focus, and it still slices through sweepers. If your map has fire roads and desert two-track on it, this is your Tiger.

What the Rally Pro Desert Edition adds

  • A 21-inch tubeless spoked front wheel in place of the 19-inch cast wheel

  • An aluminum sump guard and fuel tank protection bars, listed for the Desert Edition only
