Our take on the Rocket 3
The perfect storm. The Rocket 3 Storm R carries the world's largest production motorcycle engine, a 2,458cc triple making 180 hp and a staggering 166 lb-ft of torque. Roll on the throttle at almost any speed and the acceleration is explosive.
Triumph calls it muscle with manners, and the ride proves it. A fully adjustable Showa rear shock and four-piston monobloc brakes with Optimized Cornering ABS keep all that power composed, and it handles with an agility its imposing presence does not prepare you for. The Storm R gets the blacked-out look, sportier 10-spoke wheels and a color TFT display.
The Rocket 3 has been in a class of its own since 2004, and the blacked-out Storm R is the boldest version yet.
What the reviewers say
“The Rocket 3 is the very definition of planted once you've got it settled into a corner, and it seems to almost pull itself down into the tarmac, too.”
“Naturally, the engine is the bike’s dominant component, pulling strongly from low revs and then building to a walloping whoosh as the big Triple gains revs.”
Two versions. Every Rocket 3 Storm has the same 2,458cc triple: 180 hp and 166 lb-ft, a 4.8-gallon tank, Brembo Stylema brakes with cornering ABS, and service every 10,000 miles.

Questions riders ask
Storm R or Storm GT?
Same 2,458cc engine and 166 lb-ft. The GT has a lower 29.5-inch seat (the R is 30.4 inches) and weighs 705 lb to the R's 699 lb.
How does it carry its weight?
It weighs 699 lb with fuel, but the low center of gravity and the torque at low revs make it easier to ride than its size suggests.

Choose the Storm GT if you like to stretch out. Feet-forward controls, a lower seat and a pillion backrest give it a laid-back custom feel, and it comes with heated grips for the long way home.
Choose the Storm R if you want the roadster. Mid-mounted foot controls put you in a natural, sporty position, and it's the same 2,458cc triple, for $800 less.
More on these two
Which one fits your riding
The Storm R: The Storm R is the Rocket for riders who want to throw the world's largest production motorcycle engine at a twisty road. Reviewers say it's the very definition of planted once it's settled into a corner, and the mid pegs let you move your weight around.
The Storm GT: The Storm GT is the touring Rocket. The relaxed position, sculpted seat and backrest make it the one for long days and two-up rides, and with that much torque you'll rarely need to change gear.
