Our story

Southern California Motorcycles began as Tom Hicks’s dream: a different kind of motorcycle dealership.

Tom’s career started in 1976. He was president of a local motorcycle club and ran a small service shop out of his own garage, and his attention to detail soon brought him more work than he could handle. In 1980 he joined American Honda as a technician and moved through customer relations, motorcycle engineering and product research, introducing new models to the press, running product evaluations and setting seven world motorcycle endurance speed records.

In 1994 he went to Triumph as sales manager for the western United States and set up Triumph’s dealer network here, putting countless miles on every model along the way. In 1997 he became general manager of Race Tech Suspension and led it into the street-bike market.

On April 4, 2000, Tom put all of it to work and opened Southern California Triumph. Within 16 months it was the top-selling Triumph dealer in the country. Ducati, Victory, Royal Enfield and Suzuki followed, and the campus became Southern California Motorcycles.
