Our take on the RM-Z250 / RM-Z450
Both are famous for the way they turn, with sharp, nimble handling that lets you slice the bike exactly where you want it in a rutted corner.
For 2027 both bikes get a new AMA and FIM compliant exhaust silencer and new RK Excel wheel rims.
Tuning is part of the fun. Suzuki's MX-Tuner 4.0 adjusts fuel injection and ignition from a smartphone, and the included fuel couplers change the engine map in seconds. Suzuki Holeshot Assist Control helps you launch hard off the gate, and the traction management system fine-tunes engine output for the conditions. The slim seat and bodywork make it easy to move around on the bike lap after lap, and moto after moto.
What the reviewers say
“Similar to how we felt on the 250, Colby also feels like he can put the 450 wherever he wants, and it turns in when and where he wants it to.”
Ultimate MotorcyclingWill Embree, November 2022Read the review on Ultimate Motorcycling (opens in a new tab) “In smooth conditions, the RM-Z slices up the track on inside or outside lines, and lean-in on corner entry is as good as they come.”

New for 2027
KYB fork
The Showa fork gives way to a KYB coil-spring fork with full damping adjustment and 12.2 inches of travel, tuned for a more compliant, controllable feel.
KYB shock
A new fully adjustable KYB shock, still linkage-assisted with 11.8 inches of travel, replaces the Showa BFRC unit for plusher bump absorption and better rear traction.
New upper triple clamp
A new, lighter upper fork bracket was developed to work with the KYB fork and the handlebar setup for better chassis feel.
Everything new
RK Excel rims
Lighter, strong RK Excel rims improve chassis compliance and the feedback you get through the bike.
Slimmer subframe
A narrower subframe carries the new muffler and slims the rear of the bike.
Better-breathing airbox
A reshaped air cleaner outlet tube feeds the throttle body more efficiently for crisper throttle response across the rev range.
New silencer
A multi-layer muffler meets the 2026 AMA and FIM sound limits, and Suzuki says it does so without giving up engine performance.
