Our take on the GSX-R600, GSX-R750 and GSX-R1000
Forty years of GSX-R history come together in the 2027 GSX-R1000R, and what a way to celebrate. Its updated 999.8cc inline-four delivers power smoothly and controllably across a broad rpm range, with strong, accessible drive low down and a fierce pull through the midrange that just keeps coming. The chassis feels neutral and stable, it turns in easily and links corners with a fluid, confident rhythm, and the whole package rewards a rider who loves to push lap after lap.
Living with it's easier than its racing pedigree suggests. The riding position is sporty but reasonable, thanks to the careful placement of the clip-ons and footrests and a 32.5-inch seat. The Suzuki Clutch Assist System smooths downshifts, and the Bi-directional Quick Shift System rips off clutchless shifts up and down.
What the reviewers say
“Still, there’s always the same smooth delivery we’ve come to love of the GSX-R. It lays down the power, but in a way that’s inviting to ask a little more.”
Cycle WorldMichael Gilbert, May 2026Read the review on Cycle World (opens in a new tab) “Crack the throttle mid-corner, and it just pulls hard, with an urgency that genuinely doesn't feel far from the 210bhp bikes when you're firing out of slower turns.”
VisordownSimon Hancocks, May 2026Read the review on Visordown (opens in a new tab) “Suzuki claim revised mapping improves pick-up from under 4000rpm, and it's certainly urgent from the bottom.”

New for 2027

Reworked top end
A new cylinder head with revised intake and exhaust ports, larger valves and reshaped pistons raise compression from 13.2:1 to 13.8:1. Cam timing was revised to meet EPA, CARB and Euro 5+ rules while torque now builds in a more linear way.
Stronger bottom end
New crankcases and a crankshaft with larger journals handle more load, and a wider cam chain cuts friction. It is built to take a race tune and long endurance stints.
New 4-2-1 exhaust
The collector sits closer to the engine for better mass centralization and faster catalyst warm-up. The titanium muffler is about a third smaller in volume than before.
Everything new
New Bosch IMU
A lighter, more precise six-direction IMU feeds the traction control and the updated Motion Track cornering ABS, so the rider aids react to lean and pitch more accurately.
Smart TLR Control
A first for a GSX-R: pick a traction control level and the bike sets the Roll Torque Control and wheelie Lift Limiter to match, so one choice tunes all three.
Updated fuel injection
The Suzuki Top Feed Injectors move from a ten-hole to an eight-hole design for more efficient combustion and more precise fueling.
Lighter lithium-ion battery
A smaller, lighter Li-ion battery holds voltage more steadily under load.

Questions riders ask
Is the 2027 GSX-R1000R a special edition?
In the US the 2027 GSX-R1000R is sold as the 40th Anniversary Edition, in Pearl Vigor Blue / Pearl Tech White or Candy Daring Red / Pearl Tech White, with anniversary decals and tank emblem, gray engine covers and a custom anniversary key.
What's the seat height?
Suzuki lists 32.5 inches. Curb weight is 448.0 pounds with a 4.2-gallon fuel tank, and the swingarm pivot position can be adjusted for track tuning, with the standard position recommended for street riding.
GSX-R1000R or Hayabusa?
The GSX-R1000R is the track-focused superbike, with Showa BFF suspension, Smart TLR Control and Launch Control at 448 pounds. The Hayabusa uses a 1340cc inline-four, relaxed ergonomics, wind protection and Smart Cruise Control for fast, comfortable distance riding at 582 pounds. Both are a rush in their own way.
Compare two GSX-R versions

Choose the GSX-R750 if you want a bigger engine in a middleweight chassis. It's a 750cc four in a bike that weighs about the same as the 600, so you get more shove out of the corners without stepping up to a liter bike.
Choose the GSX-R600 if you love to rev it out. The 599cc four rewards a rider who keeps it near the top, it's the lightest of the three GSX-Rs, and it costs $1,050 less.
More on these two
Which one fits your riding
The GSX-R600: The GSX-R600 is the classic middleweight supersport. It's light, it turns in quickly, and the engine is happiest high in the revs, which makes it a favorite for track days and for riders who like to work for their speed.
The GSX-R750: The GSX-R750 is the bike Suzuki started the GSX-R line with in 1985, and it still has its own spot between the 600 and the 1000. You get a bigger engine in a chassis that feels like a middleweight, and we think that's the sweet spot for canyon roads.
