Our take on the Hayabusa

Ride it gently and the engine is calm and polite. Open the throttle and the thrust builds into a seamless, incredible surge that keeps stacking up through the gears, the kind of acceleration that rewrites your sense of speed. The aerodynamic shape is instantly recognizable, and the relaxed ergonomics and wind protection make it as happy on a long highway run as it is thrilling on a fast sweeper.

Here's the surprise: everyday manners are better than its reputation suggests, so the Busa is a bike you can actually ride every day. The hydraulic clutch and the Suzuki Clutch Assist System keep the lever pull light, Low RPM Assist helps in stop-and-go traffic, and the 31.5-inch seat is wide and comfortable.

About the Hayabusa

Suzuki presents the Hayabusa as its flagship sportbike: a refined 1340cc inline-four in a twin-spar aluminum chassis, managed by a full suite of electronic rider aids and wrapped in the aerodynamic bodywork the model is known for. Relaxed ergonomics and wind protection are aimed at riding comfort as much as speed.

Questions riders ask

What's the seat height?

Suzuki lists 31.5 inches, with a 582-pound curb weight and a 5.3-gallon fuel tank. Relaxed ergonomics and a windscreen shaped to reduce wind blast help comfort on longer rides.

What riding modes does it have?

The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha offers three factory presets and three rider-defined settings that combine power mode (A, B or C), traction control, anti-lift, engine braking and quickshifter response. Active Speed Limiter and Launch Control are also included.

Does it have cruise control?

Yes. Smart Cruise Control is standard and doesn't cancel when you shift up or down with the Bi-directional Quick Shift System, so you can change gears at highway speed and keep your set pace. Long days in the saddle feel effortless.
