Our take on the Panigale

The V4 models run the Desmosedici Stradale, a MotoGP-derived V4 with a counter-rotating crankshaft and a Twin Pulse firing order that sounds remarkably close to the race bike. At full song it'll raise the hair on your neck. Yet the latest chassis is designed to make that ferocious speed easier to use, letting riders turn quicker laps with less effort, and to do it again and again.

On the road the V2 feels light and natural, and in quick direction changes it's sublime, with a modest height difference between seat and bars that keeps weight off your wrists. Few things on two wheels are as intoxicating as a V4 Panigale on a clear canyon morning.

What’s new on the current Panigale

This generation arrived for 2025.

The Panigale V2, photographed by Ducati
  • Lightest Panigale yet

The new engine and a 9 lb monocoque frame took 33 lb off compared with the previous V2 S. The base V2 weighs 395 lb without fuel, and the lighter bike changes direction with far less effort.

  • New 890cc V2 engine

Variable intake valve timing and conventional valve springs replace the desmodromic Superquadro, and the engine itself is about 21 lb lighter. Peak power drops to 120 hp, but 70% of the torque is on tap at 3,000 rpm, so it pulls hard where you ride on the road.

  • A friendlier riding position

Higher clip-ons and a new rider triangle take load off your wrists, and vents in the fairing sides push radiator heat away from your legs.

Everything new
  • Double-sided swingarm

A hollow double-sided swingarm styled after the Panigale V4's replaces the single-sided arm, for stability on corner exits. The base bike keeps a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and KYB shock.

  • Electronics from the Panigale V4

A six-axis IMU runs cornering ABS, traction, wheelie and engine brake control, and the Quick Shift 2.0 up/down quickshifter comes from the Panigale V4.

  • New 5-inch TFT

A new dash with Road, Road Pro and Track views, run by a petal joystick, and a tach that lights green at the ideal shift point.

Questions riders ask

Panigale V4 or V4 S?

Same 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale and 209 hp. The V4 S adds electronically controlled Öhlins suspension with Smart EC 3.0, forged aluminum wheels and a lithium battery, and weighs 412 lb wet without fuel to the V4's 421 lb.

What's the seat height?

Ducati lists 33 inches for the Panigale V2 and V2 S, 33.5 inches for the Panigale V4 and V4 S, and 33.7 inches for the Panigale V4 R.

Compare two Panigale versions

Panigale V4, Ducati studio image
V4MSRP $27,795
Panigale V4 S, Ducati studio image
V4 SMSRP from $35,595

Choose the V4 S if you want the best of everything. It adds Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension, forged wheels and a lithium battery, and reviewers say the new suspension is good enough to race.

Choose the V4 if you'd rather set the suspension by hand and spend the difference on track days. It's the same 209 hp V4 and Race eCBS brakes, for $7,800 less.

More on these two

Which one fits your riding

The V4: The base V4 has the same engine, brakes and electronics as the S. It's for the rider who knows their way around a fully adjustable Showa fork and Sachs shock, or wants to put the money into tires and track time.

The V4 S: The V4 S is the one most Panigale buyers dream about. The electronic Öhlins changes its damping as you ride, and testers who rode the new bike back to back with the old one went faster on it. It's easier to live with on the road than its numbers suggest.

What the V4 S adds

Everything in the V4, plus:

  • Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension in place of Showa and Sachs
  • Forged wheels in place of cast
  • A lithium battery
