Ducati Streetfighter vs. Panigale

The same V2. A wide bar or a full fairing.

Under the skin, these two share a great deal: the same 120 hp V2, the same front brakes and the same fully adjustable suspension. The real difference is how you sit: the Streetfighter gives you a wide, upright bar, and the Panigale tucks you behind a fairing.

Choose the Streetfighter if…

  • Most of your riding is on the street.
  • You want a wide, upright handlebar that's easy around town and on tight roads.
  • You like the look of a naked bike.

Choose the Panigale if…

  • You love the sportbike look and riding position.
  • You want the wind off your chest when the speed comes up.
  • Track days are a regular part of your riding.

Which one fits your riding style?

Here's where the difference shows up on the road.

Around town

The Streetfighter's wide bar makes it the easier one to turn and ride slowly. The Panigale's clip-ons put more weight on your wrists at city pace, though reviewers say its higher clip-ons make it noticeably more comfortable than Panigales before it.

The difference: Around town, the Streetfighter is the easier ride.

Fast roads

On a fast road like Palomar, both deliver the same 120 hp. The Panigale tucks you behind its fairing, so the wind doesn't push you around at speed. The Streetfighter's upright position gives you more control at the bars and a great view of the road.

The difference: The faster the road, the more you'll appreciate the Panigale's fairing.

Track days

Both share a track-ready chassis. Tucked in behind the fairing, the Panigale is the more natural fit on a track like Chuckwalla. The Streetfighter is thrilling on track too, but you will feel the wind.

The difference: For track days, the Panigale.

Is the Panigale worth the step up?

It comes down to where you'll spend your miles.

If most of your riding is on the street, the Streetfighter gives you the same engine with a riding position that's easier every day.

If you love the sportbike look, ride fast roads or plan regular track days, the Panigale's fairing and tucked-in position make sense. The step up is $1,000 in MSRP.

Our advice: Sit on both. The bars tell you everything: if the wide bar feels right, it is.

The best way to decide is to sit on both, back to back. We'll have them side by side for you.
