Ducati built the Multistrada to cover big distances in comfort without losing the sporting edge every Borgo Panigale bike carries, and that edge is never far away.

Our take on the Multistrada
On a long day it feels refined and composed, yet open the throttle on an empty road and the surge is genuinely exhilarating.
Over a long ride the Multistrada settles into a smooth, relaxed rhythm. On the V4 the rear cylinder bank shuts off when full power isn't needed to save fuel, and the semi-active suspension on the V4 S reads the road in real time, softening speed bumps and potholes so you arrive feeling fresh. Then the next mountain pass appears and that V4 wakes right up, which is exactly the point.
What the reviewers say
“Just nudge the wide handlebar and it attacks the turn, holding its line like a bobsled riding an ice run. Steering is light and accurate, with quickness that belies its 19-inch front wheel.”
A new aluminum monocoque frame and the lighter V2 engine bring the base Multistrada V2 to 439 lb without fuel, about 40 lb less than before. You notice it at a standstill, in tight turns and when fully loaded.
New 890cc V2 engine
The 115 hp V-twin uses variable intake valve timing and valve springs. Over 70% of peak torque is there by 3,500 rpm, and a larger flywheel smooths throttle response in traffic.
Shorter low gears
First and second gears are shorter for easier slow riding and loaded pulls, and the new Quick Shift 2.0 gives a more precise pedal feel.
Everything new
Chassis in the Multistrada V4 style
The engine is a stressed member of the monocoque frame, with a steel trellis subframe and a cast aluminum swingarm. The narrower middle makes it easier to reach the ground and takes less bar effort to lean. The base bike has a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and shock.
Two-position seat and more passenger room
The seat adjusts between 32.7 and 33.5 inches, with lower and higher accessory seats, and the passenger gets more legroom.
New electronics and dash
A new 5-inch TFT with three display layouts, five riding modes including Enduro, four power modes, and cruise control as standard.
Hydraulically controlled slipper and self-servo wet multiplate clutch.

Questions riders ask
Which Multistrada fits which kind of riding?
The V2 is the lighter choice, at 439 lb wet without fuel against 505 lb for the V4. The V4 S is the complete tourer with semi-active suspension. The V4 Rally adds a 7.9-gallon tank and long-travel suspension for remote roads, and the Pikes Peak goes sport-focused with a 17-inch front wheel and a thrilling edge in the corners.
What's the seat height?
The V2 adjusts between 32.7 and 33.5 inches. The V4, V4 S and Pikes Peak adjust between 33.1 and 33.9 inches, and the V4 Rally between 34.3 and 35 inches. Ducati lists accessory seats for every version.
What does the automatic lowering device do?
Ducati lists it on the Multistrada V4 S and V4 Rally. It lowers the bike as you slow below about 6 mph, making it easier to put your feet down, then returns to riding height as you pick up speed.

Choose the V4 S if your trips are long and fast. The 1,158cc V4 makes 170 hp and 91 lb-ft, and the radar system, Brembo Stylema brakes and a 5.8 gal tank are made for big days on the highway.
Choose the V2 S if you want the Multistrada that feels light on its feet. It's 66 lb lighter and quick through tight corners, with Skyhook suspension too, for $10,000 less.

Which one fits your riding
The V2 S: The V2 S is the Multistrada for back roads and weekends away. Reviewers call it agile and comfortable at the same time, and its lower seat suits smaller and newer riders. It does the touring, it just does it with a lighter step.
The V4 S: The V4 S is the one that eats interstate miles. Riders who cover a lot of ground pick it for the power in reserve, the radar-assisted cruise control and the bigger tank between stops. Reviewers like how it pairs touring comfort with real sportiness when the road gets interesting.

Which one fits your riding
The V2: The V2 is the lightest way into a Multistrada, and reviewers say the new 890 version is lighter and sweeter-handling than the bike it replaced. It's for riders who want one bike for the commute, the canyon and the weekend away, and who'd rather set the suspension once and ride.
The V2 S: The V2 S is the one for riders who rack up miles. Reviewers call it the sweet spot of the Multistrada range, and the semi-active suspension is a big part of why: it keeps adjusting without you touching a thing. If you ride two-up or tour, it earns its keep.

Which one fits your riding
The V4: The base V4 is for riders who like to set their bike up once and go. It has the same engine and the same 19-inch front wheel, and the money you save buys a lot of fuel, hotels and luggage.
The V4 S: The V4 S is the Multistrada most riders picture. Long days are what it's for: the suspension keeps the ride calm over rough pavement, the radar handles the cruise control on the interstate, and the engine has plenty in reserve to pass. Reviewers say the latest version makes super-fast touring even easier.
