Our take on the V-Strom 650
Its 645cc 90-degree V-twin is flexible and friendly, with a pleasant rumble and an addictive rush of power higher in the revs, and the riding position is upright and natural. It feels playful in the curves and composed over broken pavement, so the daily commute and a week of touring suit it equally well.
Day to day it's simply easy to get along with, the kind of bike that keeps talking you into the long way home. The seat is comfortable, the tall sixth gear keeps the engine relaxed on the highway, and the resin rack with built-in grab bars makes carrying a bag or a passenger simple.

Questions riders ask
V-Strom 650 or V-STROM 800?
The V-Strom 650 keeps the 645cc V-twin, a 470-pound curb weight and a 32.9-inch seat. The V-STROM 800 moves to the 776cc parallel twin with a quickshifter, Showa SFF-BP fork and five-inch color TFT, at 492 pounds with a 32.5-inch seat.
What's the seat height?
Suzuki lists 32.9 inches. The fuel tank narrows at the rear and flows into a slimmer seat to help your feet reach the ground, and low- and high-profile seats are available through Suzuki Genuine Accessories.
Is it ready for luggage?
Yes. The frame and sub-frame have integrated mounting points for Suzuki Genuine Accessory side and top cases, which go on or come off quickly. Key cylinders can be ordered so the plastic cases work with the motorcycle's ignition key.
