Our take on the V-Strom 1050
Its 1037cc 90-degree V-twin pulls strongly at low rpm with a satisfying, muscular punch and runs with almost no vibration, and the bike tracks straight and stable on the highway, even in a crosswind. Comfort is the theme, with an upright position and a hand-adjustable windscreen. The 1050DE takes the same engine onto a 21-inch front wheel and feels planted and seriously fun when the pavement turns to dirt.
Living with it's easy, and that makes it easy to keep saying yes to one more day on the road. On the 1050 the seat height can be raised or lowered, a center stand comes standard, and a hand-operated hydraulic preload adjuster sets the rear for a passenger or luggage in moments. Both carry a 5.3-gallon tank for long stretches between fuel stops.
What the reviewers say
“As far as the V-Strom Standard goes, the only semi-rapid ride I get successfully demonstrates the 19in front V-Strom has lost none of its stable, sure-footed cornering ability”
Bennetts BikeSocialSimon Hargreaves, February 2023Read the review on Bennetts BikeSocial (opens in a new tab) “Although not overly powerful it's got plenty of real world 'go' due to its linear power and strong torque curve.”

Questions riders ask
V-STROM 1050 or 1050DE?
Choose the 1050 for road-focused touring, with a 19-inch cast front wheel, a 33.7-inch seat, 534 pounds and a standard center stand. The 1050DE is built for dirt too, with a 21-inch spoked front wheel, 7.5 inches of ground clearance, a 34.6-inch seat and 554 pounds.
What's the seat height?
Suzuki lists 33.7 inches for the V-STROM 1050 and 34.6 inches for the 1050DE. The 1050's seat can be raised or lowered, and low-profile seats are available for both through Suzuki Genuine Accessories.
Does it have cruise control?
Yes. Cruise control is standard on both the 1050 and the 1050DE, along with the Bi-directional Quick Shift System, so long highway stretches take less effort. Both also have a USB port beside the TFT for a phone or GPS.
