2027 Royal Enfield Bear 650

The Bear 650 is a road scrambler with a sixties soul, inspired by the 1960 Big Bear Run in the California desert, and it rides with the attitude to match.

Our take on the Bear 650

Royal Enfield retuned its 648cc parallel twin for more torque, and you feel it as a willing shove out of every corner that puts a grin on your face. It loves a winding back road, stays composed when the pavement turns to hard-packed dirt, and its high, wide handlebars put you firmly in charge. Take it down a fire road and it's a total hoot.

The scrambler-style bench seat lets you move around freely, and the roomy riding triangle works sitting or standing. Full LED lighting, a USB-C port and a 3.6-gallon tank with a potential range of about 186 miles make it an easy bike to ride every day, and one that's always begging for the long way home.

What the reviewers say

What’s new on the current Bear 650

This generation arrived for 2025.

The Bear 650, photographed by Royal Enfield
  • A scrambler on the 650 twin

The Bear starts from the INT 650 but gets a frame reinforced at the steering head and subframe to carry a taller fork, luggage and a passenger.

  • More torque

A new 2-into-1 exhaust lifts torque by about 8% to 41.7 ft-lb at 5,150 rpm, with 46.8 hp at 7,150 rpm. You feel the extra pull low in the rev range.

  • Showa suspension with more travel

A 43mm Showa upside-down big-piston fork with 5.1 inches of travel, and twin Showa shocks with 4.5 inches and preload adjustment.

Everything new
  • 19-inch front, 17-inch rear

Spoked wheels with dual-purpose MRF Nylorex tires and 7.2 inches of ground clearance, ready for graded dirt roads as well as the canyons.

  • Tripper Dash TFT

A 4-inch round color TFT with full-map navigation powered by Google Maps, phone connectivity and media controls.

  • Switchable rear ABS

Dual-channel ABS can be turned off at the rear wheel when the pavement ends.

  • LED lighting and USB-C

LED headlight, taillight and turn signals all round, plus a USB Type-C port to keep your phone charged.

Questions riders ask

Bear 650 or INT 650?

Both use the 648cc twin. The Bear is tuned for 8 percent more peak torque and adds a 2-into-1 exhaust, 19-inch and 17-inch spoked wheels, dual-purpose tires, switchable rear ABS and the Tripper Dash. The INT 650 is the classic roadster on 18-inch wheels.

Does the Bear 650 have tubeless tires?

No. Royal Enfield says tubeless isn't available on the Bear 650. It rides on 19-inch and 17-inch spoked wheels with dual-purpose tires, built for extra grip on loose surfaces without losing confidence on pavement.

How far can it go on a tank?

Royal Enfield quotes a potential range of about 186 miles from the 3.6-gallon tank. Your own range will depend on how and where you ride, but it's plenty for a full day of back roads, and you'll want every mile of it.
