Our take on the Shotgun 650

In person it's a stunner, low and muscular with a stance that turns heads wherever it goes. Its proven 648cc parallel twin has a strong midrange and a deep, rich sound, and the bike steers with a sharpness that surprises anyone who judges it by its custom looks. Mid-set footpegs and well-placed bars make it as happy carving a twisty back road as it is rolling through downtown traffic.

The seat sits at 31.3 inches and the 57.7-inch wheelbase keeps it steady in traffic and on the highway. An LED headlamp in a custom nacelle, the digi-analog cluster with Tripper navigation, aluminum switchgear with adjustable levers and a USB port make it easy to live with, and a real joy to make your own.

What the reviewers say

  • “Caress the bars with light inputs and it floats from corner to corner with little effort, using the engine's low-down grunt and smooth power to maintain momentum.”

MCNMichael Neeves, January 2024Read the review on MCN (opens in a new tab)
  • “It handles easily and feels solid and reassuring. Cornering clearance is limited, but this isn't a bike for strafing apexes.”

Questions riders ask

Can it carry a passenger?

Yes. The bucket seat converts between a single seater and a dual seater in moments, which is a genuinely clever touch, and the modular design also supports a luggage-carrying tourer setup. Showa twin shocks with five-step preload adjust for the extra weight.

What's the seat height?

31.3 inches, with mid-set footpegs and handlebars placed to work with the seat. The bucket seat is shaped for comfort, and the low center of gravity makes the bike easy to balance at walking pace.
