Triumph Trident 660 vs. Tiger Sport 660

The same 660 triple. One roadster, one for the long weekend.

Both use Triumph's 660cc triple, with the same power, brakes and six-speed gearbox. The real difference is how far you're going: the Trident is a light roadster, the Tiger Sport 660 adds an upright, roomy position, an adjustable screen and a bigger tank for longer rides.

Choose the Tiger Sport 660 if…

  • Your rides keep getting longer.
  • You want wind protection and a bigger tank.
  • You commute all week and head out of town on Saturday.

Which one fits your riding style?

Here's where the difference shows up on the road.

Around town

The Trident is 35 lb lighter and narrow, so it's the easier one in traffic. The Tiger Sport's upright position is comfortable in town too.

The difference: The Trident is the nimbler city bike.

Freeway and longer trips

The Tiger Sport 660 has an adjustable screen, a 4.9 gal tank and a spacious riding position that reviewers say works perfectly for big-mile riding. The Trident is happy on the freeway, but you'll feel the wind.

The difference: For long days, choose the Tiger Sport.

Weekend back roads

Same triple, same torque, and both are a lot of fun on Ortega Highway. The Trident feels lighter on its feet. The Tiger Sport is just as willing, and more comfortable when the loop turns into a whole day.

The difference: The Trident is the sharper one. The Tiger Sport is the comfier one.

Is the Tiger Sport 660 worth the step up?

It comes down to how far you ride.

If most of your rides are a couple of hours or less, the Trident 660 is lighter, nimbler and all the fun you need.

If your weekends turn into road trips, the Tiger Sport's screen, bigger tank and roomy position make the extra miles easy. The step up is $1,700 in MSRP.

Our advice: Think about your longest ride this year. If it was a long one, take the Tiger Sport.

The best way to decide is to sit on both, back to back. We'll have them side by side for you.
