Triumph Trident 660 vs. Street Triple 765

Two Triumph triples. One for fun every day, one for when you want everything.

Both are naked Triumph triples you can ride every day. The real difference is intensity: the Trident 660 is friendly and fun, the Street Triple RS is a supersport-derived bike with 34.2 hp more and top-shelf suspension and brakes.

Choose the Street Triple 765 if…

  • You want everything a naked bike can do.
  • You're planning track days.
  • You want an Öhlins rear shock and Brembo Stylema brakes.

Which one fits your riding style?

Here's where the difference shows up on the road.

Around town

The Trident is easy, upright and friendly, with a 1 in lower seat. The Street Triple is actually 15 lb lighter, but its sportier position and firmer setup ask a little more of you at low speed.

The difference: The Trident is the easier day-to-day bike.

Weekend back roads

Reviewers say the Trident has torque for days for such a small engine, and it's a riot on a back road. The Street Triple's 128.2 hp, Öhlins shock and Brembo Stylema brakes give a lot more back when you push.

The difference: The Trident is fun at any pace. The Street Triple rewards a fast one.

Track days

The Street Triple RS is at home on track, with a supersport chassis and suspension to match. The Trident is a road bike first.

The difference: If track days are on your calendar, choose the Street Triple.

Is the Street Triple worth the step up?

It depends on how hard you want to ride.

If your riding is the commute, coffee runs and a weekend loop, the Trident 660 gives you a lively triple in an easy, friendly package, and you may never want more.

If you want the chassis, suspension and brakes to ride hard and do track days, the Street Triple RS is the one to have. The step up is $4,800 in MSRP.

Our advice: Be honest about the riding you'll do. The Trident is plenty of bike for most roads. The Street Triple is for when you want more than the road gives you.

The best way to decide is to sit on both, back to back. We'll have them side by side for you.
