Our take on the GSX-8S, GSX-8R and GSX-8T

The GSX-8R takes the torque-rich 776cc parallel twin and wraps it in a full fairing styled as a tribute to the GSX-R, and it looks every bit the sportbike. The result is a bike you can live with every day that still gets your pulse up. Power punches out smooth and strong low in the rev range and keeps building as the revs climb, while the 270-degree crank gives it a deep, rumbling exhaust note that never gets old. The chassis feels planted yet dives into corners with a natural flow.

On the road the fairing steers the airflow out to the sides, which makes a long highway stretch easier and a weekend run through the mountains pure fun. The riding position is sporty without being punishing, and Low RPM Assist smooths pulling away in traffic.

GSX-8R or GSX-8S?

Both share the 776cc twin, the quickshifter and the rider aids. The GSX-8R wears the full fairing and Showa SFF-BP suspension, with a curb weight of 452 pounds. The GSX-8S is the naked streetfighter at 445 pounds. Both have a 31.9-inch seat.

What's the seat height?

Suzuki lists a 31.9-inch seat height for the GSX-8R. Curb weight is 452 pounds, the fuel tank holds 3.7 gallons and the wheelbase is 57.7 inches.
