TIDBITS / NEWS / EVENTS
Recently we have sadly lost several friends and industry legends. As I look towards my 70th year on this planet it has me thinking how lucky and blessed I am to still be here. While I don’t ride as much as I did in the past, my thoughts take me to riding and many of the incredible roads I have been so lucky to experience.
You own a motorcycle for how it makes you feel whether you are riding it or just getting “stare” time at it in the garage. It gets your blood going just thinking about riding, and when you go through the really minimum hassle to gear up and get on the road, it all becomes worth it! Your bike is your piece of art and something to be shown off, ridden and enjoyed.
No matter what your age, don’t be one of those who, for whatever reason, can’t ride anymore and then look back and feel bad because you had so many opportunities but didn’t do it. Bust out of these depressing times and….
Ducati announce track-focused Panigale V4SP
The Ducati Panigale V4SP comes finished in matte black with luminous red accents and a brushed aluminum fuel tank like that on the V4R homologation special. Ducati say the SP is for the track and it comes with a race kit that includes the Ducati Data Analyzer plus with GPS module, blanked off mirrors and numberplate hanger and fully adjustable Rizoma anodized aluminum footpegs, but that’s not where the bike’s track-going intent ends.
The SP uses upgraded Brembo Stylema R calipers paired with an MCS master cylinder complete with remote adjuster that means the rider can change every aspect of braking feel at the lever. An SDM superbike open dry clutch means improved track performance on aggressive downshifts, too.

New Triumph Tiger 850 Sport
The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is a new base model Tiger for next year, which replaces the base-spec Tiger 900 as a more accessible entry into the range.
Before we get into the mechanics of the bike too much, let’s clear up the name. So for a start the 850 is no relation to the old 1050 Sport – a popular adventure sports model that was killed off by tightening emissions standards. Also, despite the 850 name, the engine is the same 888cc triple used in the Tiger 900. There’s no difference in bore, stroke, cams or other hard parts, instead all the changes are in the mapping. It’s pretty much the same trick that BMW pulled when it came to differentiating their F750GS and F850GS models.
