TIDBITS / NEWS / EVENTS

Recently I watched “On Any Sunday” again, and oh my god, I grew up doing and riding like so many of the scenes of that movie. It was like seeing pictures of my youth. Motorcycle movies like this one, as well as “Easy Rider” and “Take It to the Limit” epitomize what it was like growing up and becoming a motorcycle fanatic during the sixties and seventies.

What a privilege it was to do exactly that, and I am so proud to have dirt raced, won local trials championships, toured, drag raced, road raced, endurance raced and actually set world records on motorcycles. In addition I am so blessed to know and have become friends with so many racers, champions, famous actors and producers, and riders of every form, gender and age!

I cannot come close to explaining how wonderful our sport of motorcycling is. What I can say is pursue every aspect of our sport, and you will have and incredible life full of incredible experiences.

Suzuki Parallel Twin Developing Fast

Will the project herald a replacement for the firm’s 650cc V-twin?

Back in August Suzuki filed a patent application for a new normally aspirated parallel twin derived from the turbocharged project it’s been working on for several years. Now another document has emerged showing more detail of the bike that seems designed to replace the SV650.

Suzuki’s turbo-twin project has been well known for years. It debuted as the 588cc, SOHC Recursion concept in 2013 before developing into a 700cc, DOHC design two years later. Since then a steady stream of patents has revealed that the project has been edging toward production, but until August there was no hint that a normally aspirated version of the engine was also in the works. Now it seems that development on the non-turbo twin is outstripping that of the boosted version, with a second patent appearing that shows much more detail of both the engine and the bike it’s fitted to.
