EXERCISE!
We know, especially the older we get, that exercise is very beneficial to our good health. Between our jobs, family, hobbies and just being worn out we don’t exercise a fraction of what we should. We justify our lack of exercise with “I get a bunch of exercise just doing my job, etc.” That’s not enough and I’m proof of that. I used to say those things before I had a heart attack 7 years ago at 63. I am so lucky to be alive because 50% of people that have a heart attack die on the spot. So make exercise one of your hobbies.
After my heart attack I started riding bicycles and took up Aikido. I stopped practicing Aikido after I achieved my black belt, but I still ride because it’s so much fun and I get a great cardio workout. The more fun you have exercising the more likely you will continue to do it. I ride two to three times a week, 20 miles each time, because it’s fun and I know it helps keep me alive. The fact that it’s an electric, pedal assist bicycle helps me keep my heart rate in the right exercise zone and allows me to get as much or as little workout as I want.
