TIDBITS / NEWS / EVENTS

Just installed a helmet communication system in another one of my helmets, and I was thinking about how technology has again helped us enjoy the sport we love so much. Back in the early 2000s we installed a helmet communications system that had a main unit about the size of a paperback book that went in the tank bag or somewhere in your jacket. Then you had to run a wire to your battery and one to connect to your helmet. You definitely had to remember to unhook it before you got off the bike! They worked really poorly, but at least you could talk to another rider if they were close enough.

The new systems are wireless and work through your phone! They work great, and I have used one for years now. You can talk to one or multiple riders, make and receive phone calls, and listen to music. The headsets and mic are blue toothed to your phone so no more wires!

The beauty of it is you can turn it off if you want to ride quietly. They are also really easy to install and the sound quality is amazing.

I think it is a safety tool also because you can warn your friends behind you of upcoming dangers. Works great when you both don’t necessarily know where you are going and can discuss while on the road.

Like with electric vests, technology rocks!

The new Triumph Trident will be a middleweight roadster, which will be positioned below the Triumph Street Triple range and will be powered by an inline three-cylinder engine, possibly with displacement of around 650-660 cc. The Trident will be commercially launched in the first quarter of 2021.

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Will Go 37,000 Miles Before Maintenance

Ducati has a new Multistrada V4. The bike should be a crazy machine. Ducati noted that it will be the first motorcycle to have adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring. The new V4 engine is really going to be the most important thing.

The most recent bit of info that has come out about the new V4 engine is that it can go 37,300 miles between maintenance intervals. The hint provided by Ducati said, “The world is not enough.” That’s an apt hint because the circumference of the earth is 24,901 miles.
