We have made history again!"
Signed, Tom & the Staff of Southern California Motorcycles.
Southern California Motorcycles began as a dream of its owner, Tom Hicks, to build and open a different kind of motorcycle dealership.
Tom's long career in the motorcycle industry started in 1976. He was the president of a local motorcycle club and started a small motorcycle service shop in his own garage. Tom had more work than he could handle due to his philosophy of quality customer service and his attention to detail. In 1980, Tom joined American Honda as a Motorcycle Technician and quickly moved through the Customer Relations Department, Motorcycle Engineering Department, and on to Motorcycle Product Research. There, he was able to utilize his talents introducing new models to the press, handling product evaluation, public relations, and even set seven world motorcycle endurance speed records.
In 1994, Tom went to work for Triumph Motorcycles as the Sales Manager for the Western United States and set up Triumph's dealer network in the Western nine states. Tom was also very involved with Triumph's marketing and press relations—he had the privilege of teaching Pamela Anderson how to ride the Triumph Thunderbird for the movie “Barb Wire.” Tom has developed a deep knowledge of Triumph during his employment with the company. He has also put countless miles on all of the models.
Still working towards his dream, Tom took the position of General Manager of Race Tech in 1997. He led Race Tech into the street-bike market, offering components for various streetbikes including Triumph’s.
Tom’s experience in the motorcycle industry has helped him develop a sense of how a dealership should operate. He has been appointed to the Advisory Board of DealerNews Magazine as well as consulting with many motorcycle industry businesses. Tom put his experience, enthusiasm, commitment and philosophy to work on April 4th, 2000 when Southern California Triumph opened for business. Within 16 months, Southern California Triumph became the number one Triumph dealer in the nation. History was made in 2013 which marked the seventh year in a row, when Southern California Motorcycles became the number one dealer in the U.S. again!
In April 2003, Southern California Triumph expanded and opened Southern California Ducati. Ducati North America presented the company with an award for "Top New Ducati Dealer in the U.S." From 2003 to date, the company continued to rank as one of the top selling Ducati dealers in the U.S., and was the number one Ducati dealer in the U.S in 2007. In 2003, Southern California Ducati became the Press Fleet Center for servicing and maintaining the Ducati Press Fleet.
August 2005 saw the addition of Victory motorcycles. Southern California Victory offers total commitment to the brand, in the same fashion that has made Southern California Triumph and Southern California Ducati the premiere dealerships of their kind. Southern California Victory is now the best selling Victory dealer in Southern California.
The Southern California Pre-Owned department opened its doors in 2010. The department has a huge selection of pre-owned motorcycles to purchase, as well as accepts trade-ins and consigns motorcycles.
In response to many requests Southern California Motorcycles opened Southern Southern California Royal Enfield. We are now the Number #3 dealer in the nation for Royal Enfield.
